As one of the Faldo Series tournament qualification participants, Indonesia finally sent its representatives to the Faldo Series Grand Final Asia which was held at Laguna Lang Co Golf Club, Vietnam on 1 – 3 March 2018. Five talented young golfers, Kevin C. Age Group (KU) 21, Gabriel Hansel Day KU 16, Michela Tjan KU 18, Patricia Sinolungan KU 16 and Jose Suryadinata KU 16 will represent Indonesia in the competition that follow by 18 countries.
In this final round, the Indonesian team will face another representative country such as Philippines, Northern Thailand, Southern Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, India, Japan, Hongkong, China, Vietnam, China Taipei, Bangladesh, Nepal and Kunming. The five young golfers are the winners of the last Faldo Series Indonesia qualification held on 13 – 14 February 2018 at the BSD Damai Indah Course. Kevin C.Akbar is the Best Gross Overall winner in the age group of 21 with a result of 71-72-69 (212) or 4 under PAR.
Gabriel Hansel Hari is a winner in the age group of 16 while Jose Suryadinata is the second winner in the same age group. Meanwhile, Michela Tjan is a women’s leader in the age group of 18, and Patricia Sinolungan is the women’s leader of the age group of 16.
Faldo Series Tournament, The Only Global Amateur Golf Tournament
The Faldo Series Asia tournament is the only global amateur golf tournament devoted to male and female young golfers. The tournament, which has been held since 1996, began to be held in Asia in 2006.
Until now, Faldo Series has been followed by more than 7,000 golfers from around the world every year. Some of the world class golfers who have won this tournament include professional golfer Rory McIlroy and Taiwanese female golfer Yani Tseng.
R & A and endorsements from the Asian Tour and the Confederation of Golf Asia Pacific support the 2017 – 2018 Faldo Series Asia tournament. This event is included in the WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) calendar with International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) as a partner.
Final Round at Laguna Lang Golf Club Golf Club, Vietnam
