Jose Suryadinata and Viera Permata Rosada successfully dominate the last 2nd Indonesia Elite Amateur Championship 2018. Held on 23 – 25 March 2018, the tournament took gross stroke play format. Hence, the golfers have to finish 54 holes games within 3 days or 3 times 18 holes per day.
At least about 48 golfers from Indonesian clubs and Indonesian Golf Association (PGI) participated in the tournament that held at Modern Golf & Country Club, Tangerang. The 2nd Indonesia Elite Amateur Championship 2018 is one of the events that included in PB PGI calendar.
This event is held to improve the amateur golfers achievement in the country as well as a place to hone the young golfers game techniques. Previously, PB PGI has organized the first round of Indonesia Elite Amateur Championship 2018 tournament at Gading Raya Padang Golf & Club in January.
As a performance tournament, the 2nd Indonesia Elite Amateur Championship 2018 didn’t give fresh money as the prize for the winner. Instead, the winners of the tournament will receive trophies for 1st Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up for men’s category, and 1st Champion and 1st Runner-up for women’s category.
2nd Indonesia Elite Amateur Championship 2018 Dominated By East Java Golfers
As the tournament begins at 12.30 and takes about five hours, Jose Suryadinata, a golfer from Pasuruan, came out as the men’s category champion. The East Java golfer managed to score the best gross with total 220 points.
The Taman Dayu club’s golfer revealed that the score he achieved hadn’t been on target but at least he is grateful to be the winner of this tournament. This 15-year-old golfer scored 69-76-75 and 4 above par. The 1st Runner Up men’s category achieved by Alfred Raja Sitohang. The Bogor PGI golfer’s scored 73-74-77 with a total score 224 and 8 above par. While others East Java golfer, Roger Christo Lianto won 2nd Runner Up by scoring 79-76-74 or total score 229 and 13 above par.
While in the women’s category, young golfer Viera Permata Rosada made it out as champion. The 1129 WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) golfer was the best after outclassed another East Java golfer, Tiana Ivanka Porwanto. Viera managed to score 76-76-77 with a total score 229 and 13 above par or 14 points gap from Tiana. In the 2nd Indonesia Elite Amateur Championship 2018 Viera also become Daily Best Female for three days in a row.
For Tiana, her performance is an opportunity to improve her ranking on the WAGR amateur golfer list. She had won the gold medal in PIX XIX 2016 and then scored 79-79-85 with a total score of 243 and 27 above par. The 2nd Indonesia Elite Amateur Championship 2018 tournament is also an opportunity for this 19th national rank golfer to improve her game in the next competition. Tiana will be participating in the Ciputra World Junior Golf Championship event on 5 – 8 June in the Damai Indah Golf.
