Indonesian golfer Kevin Akbar, succeeded in winning Best Gross Overall in the 11th Faldo Series Indonesia Championship event, 13-14 February 2018. Thanks to this victory, Kevin will lead the Indonesian team to Vietnam in the event of the 12th Faldo Series Asia Grand Final which will be held on 1 – 3 March at the Laguna Lang Co., Danang, Central Vietnam. The stroke-play format tournament held in 3 rounds for 2 days. The 36-hole game takes place on the first day, while the third round of 18-hole game takes place on Wednesday.
The Faldo Series Indonesia Championship divided into several age groups for both mens and womens. The winner of the Asian Grand Final in Vietnam will be sent to join the World’s Grand Final. Playing in the U-21 category, Kevin Caesario Akbar managed to perform the best game by collecting the score 212 (4 under PAR). His performance is quite solid in the early round and produce 71-72-69. While his closest competitor, Gabriel Hansel Hari came out as the boy’s U-16 group winner with a result 72-72-70 and a total score of 214 (2 under PAR).
In the finals, Kevin showed his maturity after a successful 2-under in the first 9 holes and scored two birdies on holes 7 and 8. The golfer, who was born on February 24, then scored a birdie back at the 14th hole and gained a bogey at 17. Kevin’s last birdie in the 18th hole and ensures his victory in this final round. The skillful games of this young golfers not only seen in Faldo Series tournaments. Before, Kevin had several times won the Lowest Amateur status on Indonesian Golf Tour. He also managed to achieve the big 32 in the New South Wales Amateur Championship, early in February.
Meanwhile, other amateur golfer, Patricia Walanda Sinolungan managed to come out as the winner of the U-16 Girl’s group after scoring 216 with 73-71-72. In the final round, Patricia played from hole 10 and had booked 2-under after playing 8 holes. Patty then recorded 3 birdies in holes 12, 14 and 17 with a bogey at hole 16.
Patricia confirmed as a winner after scoring 2 par in her last 2 holes with a 5 stroke advantage from Michela Tjan. While Michela Tjan managed to come out as champions in the U-18 group after scoring 221 (5 above PAR) over the results 74-72-75. Superior 3 stroke from Ribka Vania. The Faldo Series Asia Grand Final tournament is a F category tournament on the World Amateur Golf Ranking. But, the competition is very tight because each country sends their best representatives.

The Faldo Series Indonesia Championship that held at Damai Indah Golf Bumi Serpong Damai Course was attended by 15 countries including Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Nepal, China Taipei, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Australia, Vietnam, Singapore, New Zealand, Philippines and Pakistan. Supported by R & A and legitimized by the Asian Tour and Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, the Faldo Series Asia tournament has been held over 11 months in various countries from 2017 to 2018. The tournament is also known as the only world-class amateur championship for the Boys and Girls category.
