The First International Golf Course in Malaysia
Located at Bandar Sungai Long, Cheras Selangor, this 18 hole golf course is Malaysia’s first international championship golf course. Beside its scenic layout, SLGCC also offers two clubhouse facilities complete with various world-class health and relaxation facilities.
As part of a country living modern township Bandar Sungai Long, Cheras, Selangor Darul Eshan, Sungai Long Golf Course also developed along with shopping center facilities, hotels, office buildings, condominiums and first class housing facilities. The club will serve a very limited membership due to its private classification. There are at least around 1,288 golfing members of this golf club and 3,500 non-golfing members.
Sungai Long Golf Course Layout
Designed by golf master Jack Nicklaus, Sungai Long Golf and Country Club was first opened in November 1992. It underwent major renovations a few years ago and then reopened in 2013. The renovations included upgrading of the green to TifEagle Bermuda grass and improved irrigation and drainage so the turf will always in top condition.
Jack Nicklaus designed the SLGCC layout to accommodate different skill levels. He crafts a unique course while maintaining the natural character of the terrain. This 18-hole and par 72 course offers many perfect water features and strategically placed slopes, mounds and traps that will bring out the best in every golfer.
A specially designed bunkering, generous landing areas, scluptured fairways and immaculately groomed greens adorn its meticulously landscape. SLGCC has a length of 7,019 meters and ranked amongst the top 15 courses in Malaysia. Due to its beauty and the natural scenery, many golfers call Sungai Long Golf and Country Club as the Garden of Eden.
Jack Nicklaus is known as a designer who always gives a unique touch in his designs. Nicklaus assured that this course would no longer need to add extra length in the near future because he designed the Sungai Long Golf course can be played by golfers at all levels. The open parkland layout provides endless challenges. The fairway and green areas are designed to balance the extended layout.
