Jakarta Golf Club is the oldest course in Indonesia. The course was established in 1872 under the name Batavia Golf Club and pioneered by A. Gray and TC Wilson and located in Gambir area, Central Jakarta. In 1934, the course was moved to Rawamangun, East Jakarta and changed its name to Jakarta Golf Club in 1950. Jakarta Golf Cub today standing on the area of 36 hectares and measures 5,875 yards from the black tees. The course consists of 18 holes with par 71. Jakarta Golf Club is open every day starting at 06:00 AM until 06:00 PM, except on Monday, the course began to open at noon. Jakarta Golf Club is relatively short course with limited area. However, Jakarta Golf Club remains challenging with its features such as large trees guarding the fairways and water obstacles and bunkers placement in each hole. Hole 2 par 4 with handicap index 1 is the difficult one. Large pond already waiting in front of tee box. First slice drive could land the ball in the road of Tanjung Priok toll while fade drive would fall into the stream on the right side of the fairway. It requires 3 wood for tee off to land the ball in the area of fairway so the rest, golfers could finish into the green with solid iron. Hole 5 par 4 is signature hole with water hazard on the right side of the fairway that made landing area become narrow from the tee box. Ideal tee off is to hit it draw to land on the left side of the fairway, so golfers could conquer the green that surrounded by three bunkers with precise iron short. Jakarta Golf Club may sound easy due to its short yardage but the tight tree-lined fairways, plentiful bunkers and well placed water hazards will offer many a challenge for golfers of all abilities. Long hitter’s may seldom require to use their driver and a 3 wood or a 2 Iron stroke would be adequate on most par 4’s and par 5’s.
Jakarta Golf Club is equipped with facilities, such as two level driving range with 54 bays for practice and sharpen swing. There are professional instructors who can help golfers in this area. Driving range includes shortgame area such as putting, chipping and bunker. Jakarta Golf Club provides free training for youth in Junior Golf Academy with qualified local and international instructors. Pro shop provides golfers with top brand equipments, accessories and attires. Other facilities in Jakarta Golf Club are spacious Meeting Room VIP and VIP Room with more personal equipped with locker room and sofa as well as LCD TVs and projectors. Conference table for six people is also available in the lobby JGC and VIP Room. Bussiness Center in Jakarta Golf Club is located on the second floor with capacity of 15 people. Jakarta Golf Club open for local golfers, international, corporates, ambassadors and junior for membership with terms and conditions applicable and approved by the committee. In 2017, Jakarta Golf Club offers special price for new members with monthly fee of 3 months with IDR 29.15 million while new members with monthly fees for the year amounted to IDR 34.1 million. Price includes entrance and monthly fee and VAT 10%.
Green Fee and Price Rate in Jakarta Golf Club
Jakarta Golf Club provides members with rate of IDR 70,000 to play nine holes and IDR 95,000 for 18 holes. Guest who plays with member charged for IDR 385,000 and without member of IDR 455,000 to play on Tuesday through Thursday. On Friday, guest who plays with member charged for IDR 450,000 and without member of IDR 525,000. At weekend, Saturday and Sunday and public holidays, guest who plays with member charged for IDR 795,000 and without member with IDR 910,000.
Jakarta Golf Club gives special price of IDR 295,000 to play on Monday to Friday afternoon. For senior golfers and ladies golfers, get special price of IDR 290,000 to play on Wednesday for senior and Thursday for ladies.
