As one of the countries that has a series of international golf course, it’s not surprisingly, Indonesia often become the host of international golf tournament event. One of them is Indonesian Golf Tour (IGT) – Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Championship.
International Golf Tournament That Will Be Held in Q2 2017
This tournament held on 5 – 7 September 2017 and gathered both golf teams from Indonesia and Malaysia. This year IGT-PGM Championship is the second time after Malaysia hosted last year. In this 2017 tournament, Riverside Golf Club, Cimanggis, Bogor has the opportunity to host the IGT-PGM Championship golf tournament.
Last year, the IGT-PGM Championship applied the stroke play game format. As for this year the game format applied is match play. This shift is intended to make a more exciting golf tournament than the last tournament. In this 2017, IGT-PGM Championship tournament, 12 players from each team will be contested. From the 12 players, eight of them are choose from the Order of Merit list on their respective tours. While the other four players are choice by the captain.
In IGT-PGM Championship tournament, players will compete for a total prize of 600 million rupiah. The winner will earn 65% of the total prize, while the players who lose will get 35% of the total prize. Still this September, Indonesia also hosting the international golf tournament event such as SEA Amateur Golf Team Championship 57th. This prestigious golf tournament destined for amateur golfers and held on 5-8 September 2017 at Gading Raya Padang Golf & Klub.
This annual team tournament is competing for four trophies namely Putra Cup, Lion Cup, Santi Cup and Kartini Cup. About 85 Asian-based international golfers from Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Myanmar and Malaysia participated in this prestigious amateur golf tournament. In addition to the 2017 IGT-PGM Championship and the 57th SEA Amateur Golf Team Championship, Indonesia also hosts the prestigious golf tournament in the world, the Combiphar Players Championship. This international golf tournament will be held on 11-14 October 2017 at New Kuta Golf Club, Bali.
This is the second time of golf tournament that was held in Bali, after previously held at the end of January. In this international event, players will compete for a total prize of 1.3 billion rupiah. The winner of the tournament will also receive six Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. Meanwhile, for 6 top golfers plus tie will earn points based on predefined standards.
For the Indonesian government, the presence of an international golf tournament like this is not just for competition. World-class prestigious golf tournaments such as the IGT-PGM Championship, the SEA Amateur Golf Team Championship, the Combiphar Players Championship and other prestigious tournaments are expected to increase the golf sport tourism potential in Indonesia.

This prestigious golf tournament which is held in Indonesia is expected to encourage the golf development in Indonesia.
