The Gombel Golf Semarang is a well known golf course among golf lovers in Central Java. With an area of 63 hectares, this golf course which located in the Gombel hill is considered as one of the largest international golf course in Central Java. Located about 20 minutes away from Simpang Lima precisely at Gombel Lama Street No. 90, Semarang, Central Java, Gombel course offers a natural ambiance combined with undulating landscape which becomes the biggest challenge for the golfer. The clubhouse with views of the entire course from above and views of Mount Ungaran makes it as a comfortable and relaxing place for the golfer.
The Gombel Golf course was built in 2004 and designed by Edwin Palmer from New Zealand and Tedjo Sumardjo. If you walk from Gombel Lama street direction, you can see this golf course clearly because it’s located on the Gombel hill. This 18 holes and par 72 golf course is considered as the most difficult and challenging golf course by the golfer due to its Extreme Green Hole. The up and down terrain, green consist of Tife Eagle grass, artificial lake hazards and the blind area with not too long fairways become the hallmark of this golf course. The golfers will experience various levels of difficulty in each hole when playing golf in Gombel Golf course. The first nine holes located predominantly away from the clubhouse to the lowest part of the valley.
While the nine remaining holes are located on the left side of the clubhouse up to the highest part of the course. The first four holes which situated in a fairly easy and smooth layout could be played easily. While the rest of other holes require extra effort with a fairly accurate distance calculation. This is due to its hilly terrain and elevated tee boxes. When the golfer reached the 15th hole, they will face the most difficult and challenging holes of the golf course. The golfer will be in the blind hole position where they might have difficulty hitting the ball due to the absence of the right pin position.
Gombel Golf Course Facilities and Green Fee
- Driving Range
The Gombel Golf Club provides a 24 bay driving range with LED lighting which make it as an energy efficient and environmentally friendly driving range. These lighting also allows the golfer to be able to practice at night. For beginners and children who want to sharpen their golf skills, they can attend the golf training courses guided by professional trainers. There are also other facilities such as chipping green, practice bunker, putting green, locker rooms, golf carts, caddy services, club rentals and pro shop. - Clubhouse
Golfers can relax in the clubhouse which located on the hill. From here, golfers can enjoy the views of entire 12 green and drink “Jamu Gendong Tradisional” which provided in the shelter every weekend. There are also restaurant facility, VIP room, ballroom and snack bar.
Despite having an international standard, Gombel course green fee is quite affordable. On weekdays, golfers simply pay IDR 375,000 for 18 hole games and IDR 212,000 for 9 hole games. On Saturday, green fee applied for IDR 800,000 for 18 hole games and IDR 475,000 for 9 hole games. As for Sunday, golfers should pay for IDR 700,000 for 18 hole games and IDR 375,000 for 9 hole games. The green fee is way cheaper for the Gombel Golf Club member, they just have to pay for IDR 200,000 for 18 hole games and IDR 130,000 for 9 hole game at any day.
